Jenifer West, LGPC

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
Masters in Counseling Psychology – The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Jennifer is a therapist with a diverse clinical and professional background, geared towards helping adults with a breadth of mental health and emotional issues. She considers it a privilege to assist people in transitioning from negative circumstance to understanding their own intrinsic value and harnessing the power needed to change their lives.

Taking a person-centered approach to counseling, she believes the answers to most emotional distress lies within, understanding that sometimes professional guidance is needed in obtaining insight and awareness to make sense of and push past hardships. Utilizing an individualized approach to counseling, she has found, ultimately makes space for people to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.

Jennifer’s areas of clinical expertise include anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, grief, and assistance with addressing relationship issues. Using skills and techniques rooted in but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and strength-based interviewing, she works with adults to address life stressors and pressures, in a collaborative setting, employing sensitivity, empathy, and guided self-reflection.

She comes to the Stone Foundation with professional experience from employee assistance programs, where she provided crisis counseling, guidance in navigating life transitions, assistance with understanding and setting boundaries as well as clinical assessment and treatment planning. She has also worked with young adults in the college counseling setting, assisting students in navigating new environments, addressing social anxiety, emotional instability, and relationship issues, while improving upon emotional and social intelligence.

Educationally, she received a Bachelors degree in Journalism from Temple University and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has worked as a journalist and editor and transitioned to her current career in counseling and therapy after feeling moved to directly help people on a broader scale. Her diverse professional background has allowed her to marry a unique set of skills which is often helpful in understanding and meeting the needs of clients in the therapeutic setting.

In all things, her main priority is to offer kindness, compassion and respect in order for clients to process through emotions in a safe space on the path to healing.
