Gang Awareness CEUs - May 14 and June 4, 2010
As part of The Stone Foundation 5th year anniversary celebration, We will be hosting a Gang Awareness symposium on May 14, 2010. This day long event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the history and proliferation of gangs in the Baltimore area while earning 6 CEUs. It is impossible to deny the growing impact of gang violence on our communities and youth. In recent times, gang proliferation has spread beyond the prison system and major urban areas to rural towns and middle class communities. Gang activity has increased and become more harmful and devastating than any other time in history. Gang Culture and Activity affects our families, our youth and our communities more than ever. The level of violence and criminality has also increased causing much concern for parents, schools, and community leaders. Although this phenomenon is growing in its impact, many of us barely have a working knowledge of the dynamic of gang culture. This workshop, taught by nationally recognized experts will provide participants with the awareness essential to working with youth and those touched by gang culture by sharing a basic overview of the gang problem. The presenters: These presenters come with solid years of experience in studying gang violence as well as a wealth of experience in sharing their knowledge and information with community audiences. They have a passion for developing the kinds of strong families that can keep youth from participating in this growing phenomenon. DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE...THE MAY 14 EVENT IS SOLD OUT!!!
The workshop is located at Linda's Banquet Hall - 2641 Maryland Ave., Baltimore, Maryland 21218. Click here for driving directions.
